Job Description:BPM Northwest has an immediate position available for a full time employee to fill the position of Business Intelligence Architect/Cognos Mentor.
The successful candidate’s responsibilities include:
Involvement in full life cycle development of building a data warehouse. Lead the technical development of new initiatives and develop, modify, deploy, maintain and monitor OLAP cubes and maintain integrity between OLAP cubes and relational packages. Responsible for Business Intelligence (BI) capabilities (e.g. reporting, analysis, score carding, dashboards and business event management). Develop high level and detailed architecture and design documents. Analyze functional specs and map, transferring the knowledge accordingly to team(s). Participate in creation of Conference Room Pilot, Unit Test Plans and guide developers in performing unit testing to all reports developed by them. Create peer reviewing plans. Install, configure and performance tune Cognos8 on multiple servers. Perform administration related activities including configuring IIS, Apache, customizing Cognos system files for personalized portals, templates, portlets. Reports migration experience: Migrate Crystal Reports, Visual Basic Reports , SSRS, Series7 cubes and reports to Cognos8. Develop training materials specific to IBM Cognos Business Intelligence software applications and deliver training to business professionals on IBM Cognos Business Intelligence software applications. Train FrameworkManager modelers, demonstrating an ability to manage a Cognos reporting environment leveraging tools across the Cognos/TM1 suite. Ability to model in Framework Manager using both star schema as well as snow flake schema methodologies. Build power cubes in Cognos8 Transformer using IQDs, CSVs, Cognos8 reports and packages as sources. Consult with clients regarding software solution options, data sources, and data structures and database architecture as well as executive dashboard strategies, proven practices, professional report authoring and real-time analytics. Manage project schedules and ensure project deliverables are defined, agreed with client and completed on schedule. Ability to work on different datasources as a reporting database for Cognos BI including Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata.
Skills and Experience: The successful candidate will have the following:
- A minimum 4 years experience as a Cognos Software Engineer that must have implemented complete Life Cycle Development process.
- Must be IBM Cognos Certified and have solid knowledge of BI platforms.
- Must be able and willing to travel/relocate to client sites in the U.S. as needed.
Education:
- A Masters degree in Computer Science
- Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder or otherwise authorized for permanent,
full-time employment.

Senior Cognos Developer

Job Description: BPM Northwest has immediate positions available for full time employees and independent contractors. We are currently seeking experienced Cognos Developers that come from 1) a consulting background or 2) have gained Cognos expertise as a super user within a corporate job function (in Finance, IT, or Planning).
The successful candidate’s responsibilities include:
- Contribute to a motivated group by applying interpersonal communication and collaboration skills to achieve project goals and land Cognos based solutions.
- Act as a business consultant with ability translate business needs into appropriately scoped software solutions.
- Deliver stable, tested, customer-ready solutions which exceed client expectations.
Skills and Experience: The successful candidate will have the following:
- 5 to 8 years of job experience in IT, Finance/Planning or Finance/Accounting.
- 3 to 5 years of experience with Cognos 8 Business Intelligence (Report Author, Metadata Modeler, PowerPlay), TM1 9.x, Enterprise Planning (Analyst, Contributor), and Scorecarding (Metrics Manager).
- History of successful enterprise-level implementations of Cognos or other applications.
- Work comfortably with business users at all levels of management.
- Ability to translate the client’s business needs into Cognos based solutions.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
Other Preferred Skills:
- Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, other RDBMS proficiency, SQL developer level or DBA
- Data Warehouse design, Dimensional modeling
- SAS and SAS BI
- Healthcare Industry Experience
Education:
- A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Math, Business Finance, or Accounting or other relevant programs is required. A Masters degree in Business Administration, related IT or Computer Science fields are desirable.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or Green Card holder.
